PRIVATE PILOT PROGRAM

Helicopters of America can have you flying in a matter of minutes, once we qualify you. We offer all of our prosepctive students a Demo Flight lesson that will help you experience the thrill of becoming a helicopter pilot. Pilots may be in demand, but it all begins with a desire to sit in the cockpit. Why not begin by getting your Private Pilot License today? You can be FAA certified in as little as one month, when training on a full-time schedule!

The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) has special requirements for students who are not U.S. citizens. You may be required to meet certain conditions if you are a non-citizen training in the United States. Come into our academy, email or call us for further information.

TO-DO LIST BEFORE YOU FLY

Before you can qualify to get your Private Pilot License, to fly helicopters, you must meet certain minimum requirements. These are listed below.

BEFORE YOU FLY, BE CERTAIN:

• MUST BE AT LEAST 17 YEARS OLD - BUT FLYING LESSONS CAN BEGIN AT ANY AGE

• MUST GET A THIRD-CLASS MEDICAL CERTIFICATE - WE WILL REFER YOU TO AN FAA PHYSICIAN

• WEIGHT IS 225 POUNDS (102 KG) OR LESS

• YOU MUST BE ABLE TO READ, WRITE AND UNDERSTAND THE ENGLISH LANGUAGE

As long as all of the above pre-flight requirements are met, you can qualify to get your Private Pilot License through Helicopters of America.

GENERAL OUTLINE OF THE PROGRAM

You will be assigned one of our existing Certified Flight Instructors for one-on-one flying lessons, and you will stay with the same instructor from the start to finish of your flight training.

Getting your CFI rating means you will have the authority, granted by the FAA, to teach others to fly, and to endorse their log books. This is a tremendous responsibility.

Training will be adjusted according to your present aptitude level and experience.

MINIMUM CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

The following are minimum requirements for getting a CFI rating:

MUST HAVE AN EXISTING COMMERCIAL PILOT LICENSE - HELICOPTER

MUST COMPLETE 10 HOURS FLIGHT INSTRUCTION IN THE ROBINSON R22

MUST HAVE AN ADDITIONAL 40 HOURS GROUND INSTRUCTION

These minimum requirements are established by the Federal Aviation Administration, but they do not reflect the actual time it may take for you to obtain your license. Student aptitude is an important factor in getting any rating for helicopter or fixed-wing pilot licenses.
