BECOME A CFII
Helicopters of America can help you gain flight hours, and pay you while you do it! It sounds exciting because it is. Becoming a CFII is much the same as getting a CFI rating — except that you must be instrument rated, of course — to become a CFII. The programs, however, are nearly identical. Review the information below for further insight.

Things to remember before you fly a helicopter or begin your flying lessons
TO-DO LIST BEFORE YOU FLY
Before you qualify to become a Certified Flight Instructor Instrument, you must meet certain minimum requirements. These are listed below.

BEFORE YOU FLY, BE CERTAIN:
• YOU HAVE A CURRENT COMMERCIAL PILOT INSTRUMENT LICENSE
• YOUR MEDICAL CERTIFICATE IS CURRENT
• WEIGHT IS 225 POUNDS (102 KG) OR LESS

As long as all of the above pre-flight requirements are met, you can qualify to become a Certified Flight Instructor Instrument.

GENERAL OUTLINE OF THE PROGRAM
You will be assigned one of our existing Certified Flight Instructors for one-on-one flying lessons, and you will stay with the same instructor from the start to finish of your flight training.

Getting your CFII rating means you will have the authority, granted by the FAA, to teach others to fly as instrument-rated pilots, and to endorse their log books. This is a tremendous responsibility.

Training will be adjusted according to your present aptitude level and experience.

Minimum requirements for your helicopter pilot rating
MINIMUM CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
The following are minimum requirements for getting a CFII rating:

CERTIFIED FLIGHT INSTRUCTOR INSTRUMENT MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
MUST HAVE EXISTING CFI RATING FOR A HELICOPTER
MUST COMPLETE 10 HOURS FLIGHT INSTRUCTION IN THE ROBINSON R22
MUST HAVE AN ADDITIONAL 40 HOURS GROUND INSTRUCTION

These minimum requirements are established by the Federal Aviation Administration, but they do not reflect the actual time it may take for you to obtain your license. Student aptitude is an important factor in getting any rating for helicopter or fixed-wing pilot licenses.
